Saturday was one of the happiest day of my life in recent times.
As usual Saturday started late for us and there was a lot of confusion as to how to spend Saturday evening. Our favourite places include roaming in New York, going to bowling, playing in D&B. I have gone to these places so many times that the names of these places make me feel bored. The weather looked fine ( 11 deg) , we decided to go to Pier 17 for a walk. After landing there we realized that , it was a day before St.Patrick's Day and there was a lot of crowd. We two couples were ready to explore new places where 2 bachelors in our group wanted to go to a movie .I am sick of going to movies after coming here as i literally watch every movie that is released here :)) . Finally we decided to go to Roosevelt Island in New York. We decided to go there by tram. ( Though , it may sound stupid, i did not know what a tram was!!)
We took an express train to New York and reached 59th street and 2nd avenue. Then came the surprise for me. I had imagined tram to be a railroad ( roadtrain) in US, as i had heard of trams in Kolkotha. When i saw the tram, i realized it was a cable car( Rope way)!!!!!! There was no bound for my happiness. I never imagined tram to be a cable car. When we were up in the air in the tram, the view of upper Manhattan, the island ,and the river was very beuatiful. The cars on the road appeared like toys. The feeling you get in the stomach while the tram descends is just beyond the words to explain and i love it!! ( That is the reason i love merry-go-round even though it is nauseating)
The island is long , but very narrow. It is just about 2-3 blocks wide. On one side you have Queens and on the other is the Manhattan. It is a very quite place and we saw children playing in the basketball court, couples taking a stroll. It's a wonderful place to live in. It's a place just very close to city yet far away from it. The place was so peaceful and it was just 3 minutes from Manhattan.People visiting New York must come to this place.
We decided to go back as it was getting dark. I and my friend were hell bent on going back in tram though the other guys were suggesting to take subway train. As the tram ride came to an end, i was very reluctant to get down and decided to come to this place whenever we needed a change.

now I feel that I did leave some nice places un-visited in the East Coast! Oh well, there's always a next time. :-)
